Profitec Bottomless Portafilter

A bottomless portafilter exposes the underside of the filter basket, allowing you to watch the espresso flow directly as it extracts. This visual feedback is the most effective way to identify channeling or uneven extraction, helping you refine your grind size and tamping technique.

It is compatible with most E61 group head Profitec machines, including the GO, Pro 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, Drive, Ride, Jump, and Move. It is designed for the standard 58mm group head size used across the Profitec lineup.

The portafilter comes as a bottomless unit, but it is engineered to accept optional silicone attachments. These attachments snap on to convert the bottomless base into a single or double-spouted portafilter when you need to split shots or prefer a cleaner pour.

The 21g basket is a 'triple' size, designed specifically for larger doses. If you typically pull shots with 16g to 18g of coffee, you may find this basket too deep, which can lead to uneven extraction; in that case, you might prefer using a smaller basket.

If your puck preparation is dialed in, it shouldn't be messy at all. However, if you have channeling—where water finds a path of least resistance through the coffee—the espresso can spray outward, so it is best to keep a towel nearby while you are learning to use it.
