While the baked enamel is durable and designed for outdoor use, it is still a glass-like coating over metal. It can chip if dropped on hard surfaces or struck against rocks, so it is best to pack it carefully when traveling.

This percolator works best on gas or electric coil stoves and open flames. It is generally not recommended for glass-top stoves because the rough bottom surface of enamelware can scratch the glass, and it will not function on induction cooktops.

Hand washing is recommended to preserve the finish. Use warm, soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge; avoid using steel wool or harsh scouring pads, which can scratch the enamel and lead to rust over time.
