Because this oven uses solar energy rather than direct flame, cooking times are comparable to a slow cooker or a low-temperature oven. Depending on the intensity of the sun and the density of the food, most meals take between two to four hours to cook thoroughly.

The Sunflair oven requires direct sunlight to generate sufficient heat. While it can maintain temperature during brief, intermittent cloud cover, it will not function effectively on fully overcast or rainy days.

For optimal performance, it is recommended to reposition the oven toward the sun every 30 to 60 minutes. However, because the design is forgiving, you do not need to track the sun with perfect precision to achieve a good cook.

The exterior of the oven is designed to remain cool to the touch, making it safer to handle than traditional metal camping stoves. However, the interior cooking chamber will get very hot, so you should always use caution when opening the lid or removing your cookware.

The kit includes a 3 lb. enameled roaster and collapsible silicone pots, which are ideal for heat retention and fit perfectly. You can use other lightweight cookware, such as dark-colored metal pots or glass, provided they fit within the dimensions of the oven chamber.

The oven is designed to be highly portable and folds down to about the size of a large laptop bag. This makes it easy to store in a closet, car trunk, or emergency kit without taking up significant space.
