Troy-Bilt Squall 123R

This model is designed for light to medium snowfalls up to 9 inches deep. While it handles standard snow well, it may struggle with heavy, wet, or packed snow compared to a two-stage snow blower.

The rubber-edged auger is designed to make contact with the ground, which helps pull the machine forward and clears snow right down to the pavement. This makes it particularly effective for cleaning driveways and walkways thoroughly.

At 103 lbs, the Squall 123R is relatively lightweight and designed for easy handling. The single-hand control feature also allows you to adjust the chute or speed while keeping one hand on the handle, which significantly improves maneuverability.

As a gas-powered machine, it requires standard engine maintenance, such as checking oil levels, using fresh fuel, and occasional spark plug changes. It is simpler to maintain than larger, multi-stage systems, but it does require more upkeep than an electric alternative.

It is generally not recommended for gravel surfaces. Because the rubber auger is designed to clear down to the pavement, it can pick up and throw loose stones, which may damage the machine or create a safety hazard.
