While it is specifically designed with a stainless steel infuser for loose-leaf tea, you can certainly use it for tea bags as well. Simply remove the infuser basket before inserting your tea bag.

The lid is designed to keep your tea warm and serve as a stand for the infuser, but it is not a fully sealed, leak-proof travel lid. It is best suited for use at a desk or while carrying it carefully, rather than tossing it into a bag.

To preserve the bamboo, hand wash the lid with mild soap and water and dry it immediately. Avoid soaking it or putting it in the dishwasher, as this can cause the wood to warp or crack over time.

The ceramic mug itself is generally safe for the dishwasher and microwave. However, you should remove the stainless steel infuser before microwaving, and we recommend hand washing the bamboo lid to maintain its quality.

The stainless steel infuser features a standard mesh size that works well for most whole-leaf teas. If you are brewing very fine teas like rooibos, you may notice a small amount of sediment at the bottom of your cup.
