The Homak First Watch utilizes an HMC high-security tubular locking system, which is designed to be more resistant to picking than standard cam locks. While it provides a solid deterrent for home security, it is a steel cabinet rather than a heavy-duty fire-rated safe.

The unit weighs 65 pounds. While it is manageable for one person to maneuver, having a second person assist with positioning and mounting it to the wall is highly recommended for safety.

The single fixed shelf is positioned to allow for organized storage of ammunition boxes or smaller accessories. It is sturdy, but keep in mind that it is fixed in place and cannot be adjusted for height.
