IMS Big Bang Portafilter Basket

The IMS Big Bang basket is designed for standard 58mm portafilters. As long as your machine uses a 58mm group head, this basket should fit, though you should verify your portafilter has enough clearance for the 25.5mm height.

The hole pattern is engineered to concentrate water flow toward the center of the puck. By using tighter spacing in the middle and wider spacing at the edges, it helps prevent channeling and promotes a more even, balanced extraction.

This basket is specifically optimized for high-capacity dosing between 20 and 24 grams. While you can technically dose less, you may find that the puck depth is too shallow for the hole pattern to function as intended, potentially leading to uneven extractions.

The ridgeless design means there is no groove to hold the basket in place via a spring clip. While this makes it easier to remove for cleaning, it also means the basket may fall out if you knock your puck out aggressively.

Electropolishing creates a smoother, more uniform surface inside the basket. This reduces friction, which makes it significantly easier to knock out spent coffee pucks and prevents coffee oils from building up in the holes.
