The captive steel washer serves two main purposes: it protects your fork's finish from scratches during installation and ensures smooth rotation, which prevents the axle from seizing or galling over time.

This axle is designed for 12mm diameter front dropouts. Because fork standards vary, you must measure your current axle's length and thread pitch to ensure an exact match before purchasing.

You can use either a 5mm or 6mm hex key to tighten or loosen this axle. This dual-interface design offers flexibility depending on which multi-tool you have on hand.

The recommended torque specification is 12 Nm. Using a torque wrench is the best way to ensure you achieve the correct tension for a stiff, secure interface without over-tightening.

At 32 grams, this axle is constructed from 7075-T6 aluminum, which is chosen for its high strength-to-weight ratio. While weight savings depend on your current hardware, it is engineered to be a lightweight, durable upgrade.
