While the Rocky is capable of grinding for other methods, it is specifically engineered for espresso. The adjustment mechanism is calibrated for the fine-tuning required for espresso, so you may find it less convenient to switch between coarse and fine settings compared to grinders designed for all-purpose use.

The dosing chamber collects ground coffee in a small reservoir, which you then dispense into your portafilter by pulling a lever. It helps keep your workspace clean and ensures a consistent amount of coffee is delivered for each shot.

The Rocky uses a stepped adjustment system, meaning you move through 55 distinct, pre-set clicks to change your grind size. This provides excellent repeatability, allowing you to easily return to a specific setting once you have dialed in your favorite coffee.

This grinder is designed for use with non-pressurized, commercial-style baskets. Because it offers such precise control, it is best paired with equipment that relies on the coffee grind itself to create resistance, rather than a pressurized basket.

Like most commercial-grade burr grinders, the Rocky produces a noticeable amount of noise while grinding. It is powerful and efficient, but it is not a silent appliance.
