Apochromatic optics use specialized glass, like the FPL-53 element in this model, to bring different wavelengths of light into focus at the same point. This virtually eliminates chromatic aberration—the purple or blue fringing you often see around bright stars in cheaper telescopes—resulting in much sharper, higher-contrast images.

The ESATTO 2-inch robotic microfocuser is designed for broad compatibility. It typically integrates with standard ASCOM drivers, allowing it to work seamlessly with most popular astrophotography software suites for remote focusing.

While it is optimized for astrophotography, it is an excellent instrument for visual observation as well. The 120mm aperture provides bright, detailed views of the moon, planets, and brighter deep-sky objects, and it includes a 2-inch dielectric diagonal and a 28mm eyepiece to get you started.

The telescope itself is substantial, and when you add a heavy camera, guide scope, and accessories, you will need a sturdy equatorial mount. We recommend a mount with a payload capacity of at least 15-20 pounds to ensure the stability required for long-exposure imaging.

The PLUS rings are machined for high rigidity, which is crucial for astrophotography to prevent flexure that can ruin long exposures. They also feature multiple mounting points, making it easy to attach guide scopes, handles, or other accessories securely.
