Chimcare Chimney Cap Damper

A traditional throat damper sits at the base of your chimney and often leaks air due to poor seals. This combo unit mounts at the very top of your flue, creating an airtight seal that stops conditioned air from escaping your home entirely, which is significantly more energy-efficient.

This system is designed for top-mounting on terracotta flue tiles. Before purchasing, verify the dimensions of your flue tile to ensure compatibility with the mounting hardware.

While the installation is straightforward for those comfortable with roof work, it requires accessing the top of your chimney. If you are not comfortable working at heights or handling rooftop tools, we recommend hiring a professional chimney sweep for safety.

Stainless steel is highly resistant to rust and heat, making it very low-maintenance. You should perform a routine visual inspection once a year to ensure the cable mechanism operates smoothly and the spark arrestor mesh remains clear of debris.

The set includes a control cable that runs down the length of your flue. This cable mounts to the wall near your fireplace, allowing you to open and close the damper mechanism at the top of the chimney with a simple pull or release.

The spark arrestor mesh is designed to be porous enough to allow for proper chimney draft while still effectively preventing embers from escaping. It will not significantly impede the performance of your fireplace.
