Standard okra varieties often have tiny, prickly spines on their pods that can irritate your skin during harvest. The Clemson Spineless variety eliminates this, making it much more comfortable to pick the pods without needing gloves.

Each plant grows to about 48 inches tall and spreads roughly 24 inches wide. You should space them about 2 feet apart to ensure adequate airflow and sunlight penetration.

Okra is a heat-loving crop that thrives in full sun and warm temperatures. While you can start them in cooler regions, they will struggle if the soil and air temperatures remain low, so it is best to wait until all danger of frost has passed and the soil has warmed up.
