While it is designed for 12-inch platters, it is specifically engineered for VPI turntables. You should verify that your platter has enough clearance around the edge to accommodate the ring's width and that your tonearm geometry won't interfere with the clamp during playback.

A center weight only flattens the record at the spindle, which often leaves the outer edges of a warped record lifted. The periphery ring applies pressure to the outer edge, which is where most warps occur, ensuring the entire surface of the record remains flat against the platter.

The ring adds mass to the outer edge of the platter, which can increase rotational inertia. On most high-end turntables, the motor is designed to handle this, but you should ensure your turntable's drive system is capable of supporting the additional weight without struggling to maintain consistent speed.

It is highly recommended to place the ring on the record while the platter is stationary. Attempting to place it while the platter is spinning can be dangerous for both your fingers and the stylus, and it is difficult to center the ring accurately while in motion.

It is very effective for minor to moderate warps, as it forces the record to conform to the flat surface of the platter. However, it cannot fix extreme, deep-set warps or records that have been heat-damaged, as those may still exhibit some surface irregularities even with the clamp applied.
