Kenji Kiln Nerikomi Tokoname-yaki Yunomi Teacup

Nerikomi is a traditional Japanese pottery technique where different colored clays are stacked, folded, and kneaded together before being thrown on the wheel. This process creates a unique, marbled pattern that runs through the entire body of the clay rather than just being painted on the surface.

While the ceramic is durable, we recommend hand-washing this piece to preserve the integrity of the clay and the finish. We advise against using it in the microwave to avoid thermal shock, which can damage handcrafted pottery.

This is a traditional Japanese yunomi, which is significantly smaller than a standard Western coffee mug. With a 3.72-ounce capacity, it is designed specifically for savoring small, concentrated servings of tea rather than large volumes of liquid.

The slightly everted, or flared, lip is designed to fit comfortably against your lips while drinking. It also provides a subtle tactile grip, making the cup easier to hold despite its compact, handleless silhouette.
