This variety thrives in full sun, which means it needs at least six to eight hours of direct sunlight daily. Planting it in a spot with less light will significantly reduce the number of blooms and may cause the tree to become leggy.

While the Tuscarora is drought-tolerant once established, it will need regular watering during its first growing season to help the roots settle in. After that first year, you can scale back significantly, though it will still appreciate a deep soak during extended dry spells.

The multi-trunk form means the tree has several stems growing from the base rather than a single straight pole. This creates a more natural, sculptural look that adds architectural interest to your garden, especially since this variety has attractive, mottled bark.

The Tuscarora is known for being low-maintenance and generally hardy. You won't need to prune it heavily; simply remove any dead or crossing branches in late winter to maintain its shape and encourage healthy growth for the coming season.
