Chroma Technology Luminance Filter

A luminance filter captures the full visible spectrum of light while blocking infrared and ultraviolet wavelengths. It is used to create a high-resolution, monochrome base layer for your final image, which provides the sharpness and detail that color channels often lack.

This filter is designed with a standard 1.25-inch mounted cell. It is compatible with most standard filter wheels and imaging trains that accept 1.25-inch accessories.

Blocking ultraviolet and infrared light prevents 'bloating' or halos around stars, which can occur because many telescope optics do not focus these wavelengths at the same point as visible light. By isolating only the visible spectrum, you get tighter, more defined star images.

If your other LRGB filters are parfocal with this luminance filter, you should not need to refocus. However, if your filters have different glass thicknesses, minor focus adjustments may be necessary when switching between them.
