The Royal Velvet is prized for its deep, iridescent red petals that have a velvety texture, creating a much richer color profile than typical bright red varieties. Additionally, these bulbs are selected for their premium 28-32 cm size, which encourages larger, more impressive trumpet-shaped blooms.

Amaryllis are primarily tropical plants and are only hardy outdoors in zones 8-10. If you live in a colder region, you should treat these as indoor houseplants during the winter and only move them outside once the danger of frost has completely passed.

After the flowers fade, cut the stalk back but keep the foliage growing in a sunny spot. Throughout the summer, continue to water and fertilize the plant so it can store energy in the bulb, then allow it to go dormant in a cool, dark place for a few months before starting the cycle again.

To perform its best, place your Amaryllis in a spot that receives bright, indirect light. A south- or west-facing window is usually ideal, as it provides the consistent warmth and light intensity required to support the tall, 24-inch flower stalks.

Keep the soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Check the top inch of soil; if it feels dry to the touch, it is time to water, but ensure the pot has good drainage to prevent the bulb from rotting.
