The GJ Phalanx is a specialized cultivar prized for its distinct, elongated red teeth. This gives the plant a more aggressive, striking appearance compared to the typical Dionaea muscipula.

While possible, it is challenging. This plant requires full, direct sunlight to thrive, which is difficult to achieve through standard glass. You will likely need a high-output grow light to maintain its health and coloration.

This method involves keeping the pot sitting in a shallow tray filled with about a half-inch of distilled or rainwater. It ensures the peat and perlite medium stays consistently moist, mimicking the plant's natural bog environment.

While Venus Flytraps get nutrients from insects, they do not strictly require them to survive. If kept outdoors, they will catch their own prey; if kept indoors, you can occasionally feed them a small, non-living insect, but it is not necessary for their health.

During winter, the plant will naturally slow its growth and may look less vibrant. Move it to a cooler location between 35-55°F and reduce watering, keeping the soil just barely damp rather than saturated until spring returns.

The plant arrives established in its specialized peat and perlite medium. You do not need to repot it immediately; in fact, it is best to let it acclimate to your environment for a few weeks before considering any changes.
