The unglazed portion of the terracotta is porous, allowing water to slowly seep through the walls of the bulb and into the soil. As the soil dries out, it pulls moisture from the bulb, creating a self-regulating system that keeps your plant hydrated.

It works best for plants that prefer consistent moisture, like ferns or peace lilies. However, it is not recommended for succulents or cacti, which require the soil to dry out completely between waterings.

Simply remove the cork top and fill the bulb with water using a pitcher or faucet. Because the bulb is designed to be inserted into the soil, you can leave the base in place while refilling the reservoir.

The 7-day duration is an estimate based on average indoor conditions. Factors like ambient temperature, humidity, and the specific moisture needs of your plant can cause the water to deplete faster or slower.

The glazed finish is primarily decorative and helps reduce evaporation from the top of the bulb. The actual watering happens through the unglazed, porous terracotta base that sits submerged in the soil.
