Sow True Seed Spinach Seeds

While this variety is bred to be more heat-tolerant than standard spinach, it is still a cool-weather crop. It will perform best in spring or fall, though its slow-to-bolt nature gives you a slightly longer harvest window before the heat forces it to flower.

To keep the plant producing, use the 'cut-and-come-again' method. Simply clip the outer, mature leaves near the base of the plant, leaving the center crown intact so it can continue to push out new growth.

Spinach America is versatile and will thrive in either full sun or partial shade. If you are planting in a warmer climate, partial shade is often preferred to help protect the leaves from intense afternoon sun.

Each packet contains approximately 170 seeds. Since the plants only need about 4 inches of space between them, a single packet is sufficient for a decent-sized garden bed or several containers.

You can do both. While direct sowing is common for spinach, you can start them indoors as transplants if you want to get a jump on the season. Just be careful when moving them, as spinach roots can be sensitive to disturbance.
