Unlike a standard spring-loaded camming device, the Tricam Evo functions as both an active cam and a passive chock. This versatility allows you to place it in cracks where traditional cams might walk or fail to seat properly, such as solution pockets or horizontal fissures.

The updated design features stiffened slings that hold their shape, making them significantly easier to manipulate and place with one hand compared to older, floppy-sling versions. This stiffness also helps keep the device stable while you are clipping your rope.

Tricams are legendary for their performance in horizontal cracks and solution pockets where other protection often fails. The wider head design provides extra stability when used in active camming mode, giving you more confidence in irregular placements.
