Harris Seeds Garlic Music Hardneck

This variety is designed for fall planting. You should get the bulbs in the ground after the first frost but before the ground freezes solid, allowing the roots to establish before winter dormancy.

Hardneck garlic varieties produce a woody central stalk, known as a scape, which grows up through the center of the bulb. This stalk is edible and should be harvested in late spring to encourage the plant to direct its energy into bulb development.

Music is a hardy porcelain variety that performs reliably in USDA hardiness zones 3 through 8. It is highly adaptable to a wide range of climates, making it a dependable choice for most home gardeners.

This variety offers medium-term storage capabilities. While it doesn't store quite as long as some softneck varieties, you can expect the bulbs to remain in good condition for several months if kept in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated location.

Each bulb typically produces between 4 and 7 large, easy-to-peel cloves. Because the cloves are larger than those found in many softneck varieties, they are generally easier to prepare for cooking.
