Yes, the forged steel construction and sharpened ground edge are specifically designed to slice through firm soil. While it excels in raised beds and containers, it is robust enough to handle tougher ground conditions than standard stamped-metal trowels.

The wider blade allows you to move more soil or compost with each scoop compared to a narrow transplanter. This makes it highly efficient for filling pots or clearing surface weeds, though it may be less precise than a narrow-blade tool when working in extremely crowded planting zones.

Like all wooden-handled tools, it benefits from occasional care to keep the wood from drying out. We recommend wiping the handle clean after use and applying a light coat of linseed oil once or twice a season to maintain the wood's integrity and grip.
