These are specifically designed for linear-pull brakes, commonly known as V-brakes. They are not compatible with traditional cantilever or road caliper brakes, which require different cable routing hardware.

No special tools are required. You will simply need to release the tension on your brake cable, slide the old noodle out of the brake arm, and insert the new one. You may need to re-adjust your brake tension afterward.
