Sapim Laser Spokes

Double butted spokes are thicker at the ends where stress is highest and thinner in the middle. This design reduces the overall weight of the wheel while adding a degree of elasticity, which helps absorb road vibrations for a smoother, more comfortable ride.

While the Sapim Laser is incredibly durable, its primary focus is on weight reduction and compliance. For heavy-duty touring or aggressive downhill mountain biking, you might prefer a slightly thicker spoke, but they are excellent for road, gravel, and cross-country builds where weight is a priority.

You will need a standard spoke wrench, but because these spokes are thinner in the middle (1.5mm), it is highly recommended to use a spoke holder or bladed spoke tool to prevent the spoke from twisting while you tension the wheel.

Straight-gauge spokes are uniform in thickness and generally stiffer and heavier. The Sapim Laser is more flexible, which makes for a more forgiving ride quality and a lighter wheelset, though they require more care during the wheel-building process to avoid twisting.

These spokes feature a standard 2.0mm diameter at the ends, meaning they fit almost all standard hubs and rims. However, you must calculate the correct spoke length for your specific hub and rim combination before purchasing.
