The RingDrive system provides near-instant power transfer, meaning there is virtually no lag between when you start pedaling and when the rear wheel moves. This is particularly noticeable on technical climbs where you need quick bursts of power to clear obstacles or navigate tight, rocky sections.

This hub is designed for the Boost standard, featuring a 12mm x 148mm thru-axle spacing. It uses a Shimano Micro Spline freehub body and is compatible with 6-bolt disc rotors, so ensure your drivetrain and frame match these specific standards before purchasing.

Maintenance is straightforward and designed to be done at home. You can service the hub using basic tools, specifically a T10 Torx driver and a pick, which allows you to clean and lubricate the internals without needing specialized shop equipment.

The one-piece solid axle significantly increases the stiffness of the hub assembly. This rigidity helps the wheel track more accurately through corners and rough terrain, improving overall power transfer and allowing your suspension to work more efficiently.

Chris King engineered this hub with heavy-duty bearing seals and a threaded driveshell seal ring specifically to keep out contaminants. These seals are highly effective at preventing mud and water ingress, which helps extend the lifespan of the bearings even in harsh riding environments.

The canted flanges are angled to better align with the spoke path, which reduces stress on the spokes during wheel building and riding. This results in a stronger, more durable wheel build that is less prone to spoke breakage under aggressive trail use.
