SRAM Road Brake/Doubletap Lever Hoods

SRAM lever hoods are generation-specific. Before purchasing, verify your shifter model—such as Red, Force, Rival, or Apex—and the approximate year of manufacture, as the shape and mounting points changed significantly between mechanical and hydraulic generations.

It is a straightforward process that requires no special tools, though it does take a bit of patience. You will need to peel the old hoods off and slide the new ones on, which can be a tight fit; using a little rubbing alcohol can help lubricate the rubber to slide them into place more easily.

These kits typically include the main lever hoods only. They do not usually include the separate, smaller rubber covers for the shift paddles themselves.

Compatibility depends on the specific series of your levers. These hoods are designed for modern SRAM road systems, so if you are running older 10-speed components, check your specific lever model number against the manufacturer's compatibility chart to ensure a proper fit.

The tackiness you feel is a common sign of material degradation caused by UV exposure, sweat, and natural oils from your hands. Once the rubber begins to break down, it cannot be cleaned or restored, making replacement the only way to regain a secure, comfortable grip.
