Silca SpeedChip Wax Additive

The SpeedChip is a synthetic additive that lowers the friction coefficient of your standard hot melt wax. By introducing these high-performance base oils into your wax bath, you reduce the mechanical drag within your chain links, resulting in a smoother, more efficient power transfer.

While it is specifically engineered to work seamlessly with Silca's hot melt wax and StripChip system, it is designed to be compatible with most standard hot melt wax systems. However, for the most predictable performance results, we recommend using it with Silca's own wax formulations.

The dosage depends on your performance goals. Adding one SpeedChip per 250g of wax provides a 0.4% efficiency gain, while doubling the dosage to two chips per 250g increases that efficiency improvement to 0.6%.

No, it does not change your maintenance routine. You simply drop the chips into your wax pot alongside your wax blocks, let them melt together, and proceed with your standard hot waxing process as usual.

You should treat the SpeedChip as a consumable component of your wax blend. As you re-wax your chain over time, some of the additive will be depleted, so you will need to replenish the chips periodically to maintain the same level of efficiency.
