Traditional metal chains rely on grease, which attracts sand and grit, leading to premature wear and rust in coastal environments. The Gates Carbon Drive belt is made of durable, weather-resistant materials that require no lubrication, meaning sand won't stick to it and it won't rust.

The Coast is designed for minimal upkeep. Because it uses a belt drive and an internally geared hub, you don't need to worry about cleaning or oiling a chain, and the internal components are sealed away from salt and sand.

The 1-speed model is best for flat, casual cruising where simplicity is the priority. The 3-speed and 7-speed options use an internally geared hub, which makes it easier to pedal if you encounter hills or want to maintain a higher speed with less effort.

The coaster brake is activated by pedaling backward. It is a simple, intuitive system that keeps the handlebars clean of extra cables, contributing to the bike's streamlined, low-maintenance design.

The Coast features an upright geometry designed to accommodate a wide range of heights comfortably. However, because it is a fixed-frame design, we recommend checking the manufacturer's sizing chart against your inseam to ensure the best fit.

The 2.125-inch tires provide a stable, cushioned ride on pavement and hard-packed boardwalks. While they are not 'fat tires' designed for deep, loose sand, they are puncture-resistant and capable of handling typical beach-town terrain.
