Because the dripper is made of borosilicate glass, it is a good practice to rinse the paper filter with hot water before brewing. This not only removes any papery taste but also warms the glass, which helps maintain a stable temperature during the immersion phase.

The Switch uses standard Hario V60-02 paper filters. You do not need to buy special filters, and the device comes with a starter pack of 40 tabbed white filters to get you started.

The switch mechanism is designed to be durable, but it can be disassembled if you need a deep clean. For daily maintenance, simply rinsing the dripper thoroughly after each use is usually sufficient to prevent coffee oils from building up in the valve.
