Dramson Sphere Ice Maker

The Dramson system uses a directional freezing method. By insulating the mold, it forces the water to freeze from the top down, pushing trapped air and impurities into a separate reservoir at the bottom, which leaves the sphere itself perfectly transparent.

Because of the specialized freezing process required for clarity, these spheres typically take between 24 and 30 hours to freeze completely. It is a slower process than standard ice trays, but the result is significantly higher quality.

A larger sphere has less surface area relative to its volume compared to standard ice cubes. This means it melts much slower, chilling your drink effectively without diluting the flavor profile of your spirit too quickly.

The system is designed to be compact, but you should measure your freezer space first. The integrated storage chest is roughly the size of a small shoebox, so it fits comfortably in most standard freezer shelves or door bins.

The silicone mold is flexible, which makes unmolding straightforward. We recommend letting the mold sit at room temperature for about 30 to 60 seconds before removing the spheres to ensure they release cleanly without cracking.

While you can use tap water, using filtered or distilled water will consistently yield the clearest results. Tap water often contains minerals and dissolved gases that can still create slight cloudiness even with directional freezing.
