Shure E500-PTH

PTH stands for 'Push-to-Hear.' This specific version of the E500 includes an inline module that allows you to temporarily mute your music and amplify ambient sound with the press of a button, which is useful if you need to hear your surroundings without removing the monitors.

While they were designed as professional in-ear monitors, they are excellent for casual listening if you prioritize detail and clarity. However, because they are tuned for critical listening, they may reveal flaws in poorly mastered recordings that other headphones would smooth over.

The isolation is achieved through the physical fit of the ear tips, which create a tight seal in your ear canal to block external noise. Because they rely on a proper seal rather than electronics, they are highly effective at reducing ambient sound without the battery drain or potential hiss associated with active noise cancellation.
