PLT Compact Ergo Handlebar

A compact handlebar features a shallower drop and a shorter reach compared to traditional bars. This design makes it easier to transition between the tops, hoods, and drops, which is generally more comfortable for riders who prefer a less aggressive, more sustainable posture.

A common rule of thumb is to match the handlebar width to the width of your shoulders, measured from the center of one acromion bone to the other. If you prefer more stability, you might size up, while a narrower bar can offer a more aerodynamic position.

While the PLT Compact Ergo is specifically designed for road cycling, its ergonomic shape can certainly provide comfort on smoother gravel paths. However, if you frequently ride technical or rough terrain, you may want to look for a dedicated gravel bar with a wider flare for extra control.

This handlebar uses a standard clamp diameter, but you should verify your current stem's clamp size before purchasing. Most modern road stems are 31.8mm, which is the industry standard for this bar.

The ergonomic shaping is subtle and should not interfere with standard bar tape installation. You may find it helpful to use a slightly thinner tape if you want to maintain the specific feel of the ergonomic contours, but standard tape will work perfectly fine.
