At 43 grams, the Hot G3 is a solid, mid-weight option. While you can find lighter carabiners for alpine climbing, this weight strikes a practical balance between durability and portability for everyday cragging and gym training.

While it meets the necessary EN 12275 and UIAA 121 safety certifications for climbing, its bent gate design makes it less ideal for anchor building. Straight-gate or locking carabiners are generally preferred for anchors to prevent accidental un-clipping or rope movement.

The 23 kN major axis strength indicates the carabiner's maximum load capacity when closed, which is standard for climbing hardware. The 8 kN rating for both the minor axis and open gate signifies the force it can withstand in less-than-ideal orientations, ensuring you have a reliable safety margin during a fall.
