Maxxis Reaver

While the Reaver is designed for mixed surfaces, it isn't a dedicated road tire. Its tread pattern is optimized for gravel and dirt, so while it will roll efficiently on pavement, you'll find more speed and less drag with a slick road-specific tire.

The Reaver is tubeless-ready, meaning it is designed to be set up without inner tubes for better puncture resistance and lower pressure capabilities. However, you can still use it with an inner tube if you prefer that setup.

The EXO casing provides a robust layer of protection against sidewall cuts and abrasions, which is essential for gravel riding. It’s durable enough for most mixed-terrain riding, though it isn't an impenetrable barrier against extremely jagged or sharp terrain.

The HYPR-X compound is a hybrid blend that balances the low rolling resistance needed for pavement with the grip required for loose dirt and gravel. It performs best when you are frequently transitioning between these surfaces during a single ride.

At 45mm wide, these tires are significantly wider than standard road tires. Before purchasing, verify that your frame and fork have sufficient tire clearance to accommodate a 45mm width, as many road bikes are limited to 30-32mm.
