Lead is denser than brass, allowing you to achieve a faster sink rate with a smaller profile. This is particularly useful when you need to get your streamer down into the strike zone quickly without creating an overly bulky fly.

The dumbbell shape acts as a keel, which helps the fly swim hook-point up. This design reduces snags on the bottom and gives the fly a more consistent, jig-like motion during the retrieve.

These specific eyes feature a painted finish with a dual-pupil design. The painted detail adds a realistic aesthetic that can trigger more aggressive strikes from predatory fish.

Because they come in various sizes, you can certainly use them on smaller trout streamers. Just be mindful of the total weight; if the eyes are too heavy for your hook size, it can make the fly difficult to cast or cause it to foul during the retrieve.

While thread wraps are usually sufficient to secure them, applying a small drop of head cement or super glue to the thread wraps before and after securing the eyes will provide a much more durable hold. This prevents the eyes from twisting or sliding on the shank after repeated casts.
