Ngala Trading Glass Beads

These beads are handcrafted by the Krobo Tribe in Ghana using centuries-old techniques. Recycled glass is ground into a fine grain, placed into porcelain molds, and heated until fused, resulting in their signature textured, sand-like finish.

Because they are handcrafted using traditional methods, each bead will have slight variations in shape and texture. This organic inconsistency is a hallmark of their authentic, artisanal construction.

While they are primarily marketed as vase fillers and table scatters, they are essentially beads strung on a strand. You can certainly incorporate them into jewelry designs, though keep in mind their 0.75-inch diameter makes them quite large and substantial.

The beads have a distinct, grainy, and matte texture rather than a smooth, polished glass finish. This is a result of the sand-casting process used to create them.

You can gently wipe them with a dry, soft cloth to remove dust. Avoid using harsh chemical cleaners or submerging them in water, as the textured, porous surface may trap moisture or debris.
