Mavic Crossmax Charge

The Crossmax Charge is specifically engineered as a front tire. Its aggressive side knobs and specialized rubber compound are designed to provide the steering precision and cornering grip required for the front end, rather than the traction and rolling efficiency typically prioritized for a rear tire.

It is a UST Tubeless Ready tire, meaning it is designed to be run without an inner tube when paired with a tubeless-compatible rim and sealant. This setup allows for lower tire pressures, which improves traction and reduces the risk of pinch flats.

The Guard 2 dual-ply casing is built for durability and puncture resistance, which makes the tire feel more robust and stable than a lightweight race tire. While it adds a bit of weight, the trade-off is a stiffer sidewall that holds its shape well under hard cornering and absorbs trail chatter effectively.

The Crossmax Charge is a 29-inch tire with a width of 59.69 mm (approximately 2.35 inches). As long as your rim is compatible with 29-inch tires and has an internal width that supports a 2.35-inch profile, it should fit, but always check your frame's tire clearance first.

The Super Contact Compound is optimized for maximum grip, making it excellent for technical terrain and varied trail conditions. However, because it prioritizes traction over long-term tread wear, you may find it wears down faster than harder, all-purpose rubber compounds if used frequently on abrasive, hard-packed surfaces.
