Surly uses size-specific wheel standards to ensure the best handling and fit for every rider. The Small frame uses 650b wheels to maintain proper geometry and standover height, while the Medium and Large frames utilize 700c wheels for efficient rolling on varied terrain.

The 1x8 drivetrain is designed for simplicity and reliability, featuring a 12-42T cassette that offers a solid gear range for most city riding and moderate inclines. If you live in a particularly mountainous area, you may find the gear jumps slightly wider than a road-specific drivetrain, but it remains highly effective for general-purpose riding.
