These skins are specifically tailored for the geometry and dimensions of the Backland UL 65. While they might physically attach to other skis of similar width, they are optimized for the specific shape and tail attachment system of the Backland UL 65, so we do not recommend using them on other models.

Mohair is chosen for its exceptional glide properties, which makes it faster than nylon-mix skins. While it provides sufficient grip for most skin tracks, you may notice slightly less traction on extremely steep or icy sections compared to heavier, nylon-based skins. These are designed for efficiency and speed rather than maximum climbing security.

These are race-grade skins, meaning they prioritize weight savings and glide over long-term durability. If you are using them for daily, heavy-duty touring, you will see faster wear on the mohair fibers compared to a standard touring skin. They are best reserved for fast-and-light missions or race days.

You can apply a specialized skin wax to improve glide and prevent icing, especially in variable or wet snow conditions. However, because they are 100% mohair, they already offer excellent natural glide, so waxing is optional and depends on your preference for speed versus convenience.

Like all mohair skins, these can be prone to glopping—where wet snow sticks to the fibers—if the temperature fluctuates around freezing. Using a skin wax or treatment can help mitigate this, but they perform best in cold, dry snow where their glide efficiency truly shines.
