Cloth tape, specifically the Velox cotton construction, conforms much better to the shape of the rim bed than rubber or plastic alternatives. This creates a more secure, stable barrier that is less likely to shift or bunch up over time, providing superior protection against spoke hole punctures.

No, this is a traditional cotton cloth tape designed specifically for clincher setups using inner tubes. It is not airtight and should not be used as a substitute for tubeless-specific rim tape.

The tape should be wide enough to cover the spoke holes completely without climbing up the sidewalls of the rim. For most standard road, gravel, and cyclocross rims, 16mm is the ideal width, but you should measure the internal width of your rim bed before purchasing to ensure a proper fit.

Velox uses a high-quality adhesive that is designed to stay put during use but generally releases cleanly when it is time for a replacement. If any minor residue remains, it can be easily wiped away with a standard degreaser or rubbing alcohol.

It is not recommended. Once the adhesive has set and the tape has been stretched to conform to the rim bed, removing it usually compromises the integrity of the material. It is best practice to install a fresh strip whenever you need to access the spoke nipples.
