The Taylor rug is engineered with a specialized backing and fiber construction that allows it to be laundered without losing its shape or plush texture. Unlike traditional wool rugs that require professional cleaning, this design is specifically built to withstand home machine washing cycles.

While the pile is plush and soft, it is designed for daily maintenance. We recommend using a vacuum without a beater bar or on the highest setting to keep the fibers clean without causing unnecessary wear or shedding.

The hand-tufted construction creates a dense, durable surface that holds up well to pets. While no wool rug is completely immune to sharp claws, the high-quality blend of New Zealand and Indian wools is resilient and significantly easier to spot-clean or wash than standard synthetic alternatives.

A rug pad is essential for two reasons: it prevents the rug from slipping on hard floors and adds an extra layer of cushioning to protect the rug's backing. Even with a high-pile construction, a pad extends the life of the rug by absorbing the impact of foot traffic.

It is normal for new wool rugs to shed slightly as loose fibers from the hand-tufting process work their way out. This will decrease significantly after the first few vacuums and washes, leaving you with a stable, plush surface.
