Big Agnes Copper Spur

The Copper Spur is a fully freestanding tent, meaning it can stand on its own without stakes. However, we recommend using the included stakes and guylines to secure the vestibules and maximize the interior volume, especially in windy conditions.

The Fast Fly mode allows you to set up the tent using only the rainfly, poles, and footprint, leaving the inner tent body behind. This configuration reduces the trail weight to 4.06 lbs, making it an excellent option for minimalist trips where you only need protection from the elements.

With 57 square feet of floor space, the Copper Spur is designed to fit four people comfortably. While it is spacious for its weight class, it is a performance-oriented shelter, so expect a cozy fit if everyone is using wide sleeping pads.

The tent features versatile awning-style doors that can be propped open to significantly increase airflow. Combined with the high-volume design, this helps minimize condensation buildup during humid nights.

The HyperBead fabric is engineered to be both lightweight and weather-resistant, offering a strong balance for backcountry use. While it is durable enough for standard backpacking, we always recommend using a footprint to protect the floor from abrasion on rough terrain.

With a packed length of 21 inches, the Copper Spur fits easily into most standard backpacking packs. Because the poles and tent body can be separated, you can also distribute the weight between two hikers to make the carry even easier.
