Many backpackers use the Z Lite SOL as a base layer underneath an inflatable pad during winter trips. This adds extra warmth, protects your inflatable pad from punctures, and provides a reliable backup if your inflatable pad develops a leak.

The reflective coating is durable, but it will show signs of wear with heavy use, particularly in the dimples where it contacts the ground. While the coating may fade or scratch, the pad's core insulation properties remain effective.
