The carbon construction makes the board incredibly lightweight and rigid, which is essential for transferring your energy into speed. However, carbon is stiffer and more brittle than plastic or fiberglass, so it requires careful handling to avoid dings or structural damage during transport and storage.

The Whiplash is specifically engineered for flatwater efficiency. While it can handle light chop, its hull shape is optimized for calm, flat surfaces; if you frequently paddle in heavy ocean swells or rough conditions, you might find a board with more volume in the nose or a different rocker profile more forgiving.

The narrow width significantly reduces drag, allowing the board to glide faster and track straighter with every stroke. This design choice is critical for competitive racing, as it minimizes the effort required to maintain high speeds over long distances.

Because this is a high-performance race board, it is designed to work best with a single, long-base race fin that promotes tracking and stability. You can experiment with different fin foils depending on the specific water conditions, but a standard race fin is the ideal starting point.
