The Petrel is specifically patterned for a female adventurer, offering a wider cut through the hips and waist while maintaining a narrower, more efficient shoulder profile. This design reduces dead air space, which helps you heat the bag more quickly and stay warmer throughout the night.

Continuous baffles allow you to shift the down insulation around the bag's circumference. If you are sleeping on a warmer night, you can push the down toward the sides or bottom to vent heat, or cluster it on top when the temperature drops.

With 950+ fill power goose down and a full draft collar, this bag is highly efficient at trapping heat. However, temperature ratings are subjective and depend on your personal metabolism, sleeping pad insulation, and base layers, so plan accordingly if you tend to sleep cold.

The Pertex Endurance UL shell is highly water-resistant and windproof, making it excellent for dealing with condensation or light mist inside a tent. While it is not fully waterproof like a bivy sack, it provides a robust barrier against the moisture typically encountered during three-season backpacking.

The Petrel is designed for a maximum user height of 69 inches, or 5'9". If you are taller than this, you will likely find the bag too short, which can compress the down at your feet and head, significantly reducing the bag's thermal efficiency.

Feathered Friends prioritizes weight efficiency and thermal performance on the Petrel. Removing features like stash pockets reduces the overall weight and eliminates potential cold spots where zippers or extra fabric might otherwise compromise the bag's insulation.
