The Freelite 3 is designed as a minimalist ultralight shelter. While it fits three people, it is a very tight squeeze; it is best suited for two adults who want extra room or a small group of three who are comfortable with close quarters.

Semi-freestanding tents require staking out the foot corners to achieve full structural integrity and interior volume. While it is slightly more involved than a fully freestanding tent, the trade-off is a significant reduction in weight and packed size.

The Freelite 3 features a 1200mm waterproof coating and a StayDry rain gutter on the vestibule to channel water away from the door. It is fully capable of handling standard three-season rain, though you should ensure the rainfly is properly tensioned to prevent sagging.

The micromesh canopy is excellent for ventilation and reducing condensation, but it does not block wind. If you are camping in cooler, breezy conditions, you will want to ensure your sleeping bag is rated for the ambient temperature.

To achieve such a low weight, the fabrics are very thin. While they are high-quality materials, they require careful site selection—clearing rocks and sticks before pitching—and we highly recommend using a footprint to protect the floor from abrasion.
