Kool-Stop Eagle 2 Cantilever Brake Pads

These pads are designed to fit standard cantilever brake holders. They are a universal replacement for most classic and modern cantilever setups, but you should verify that your current brake holders accept standard threaded-post pads.

The Eagle 2 pads are designed for standard alloy rims. While they offer excellent modulation and stopping power on these surfaces, they are not intended for use with carbon fiber rims, which require specific pad compounds to prevent damage.

Check the wear indicator grooves on the face of your current pads. If those grooves have worn away or the pad surface looks glazed and hard, it is time to replace them to maintain consistent stopping power and rim protection.

Installation is straightforward and requires only basic tools, typically an Allen key or wrench. You simply remove the old pads from the holder, slide in the new ones, and adjust the toe-in to ensure they contact the rim evenly.

Brake squeal is often caused by improper pad alignment rather than the pad material itself. Proper toe-in adjustment—where the front of the pad touches the rim slightly before the rear—is the most effective way to eliminate noise with these pads.
