Fischer Outback

The Fischer Outback is designed primarily for off-track exploration and backcountry touring. While they can handle occasional groomed trails, their width and steel edges are optimized for unpredictable, ungroomed terrain rather than narrow, set tracks.

The skis feature a dedicated attachment point that allows you to quickly snap on climbing skins when you encounter steep, icy, or deep snow conditions. This provides extra traction beyond what the patterned base offers, making it easier to ascend challenging slopes.

The rockered tip design helps the ski float on top of deep or soft snow rather than diving into it. This significantly improves maneuverability and makes turning in ungroomed backcountry conditions much smoother and more intuitive.

The universal stone-ground base is designed for consistent glide across a wide variety of snow conditions without constant maintenance. However, applying a glide wax periodically will help maintain the base's performance and longevity, especially in abrasive or icy snow.

At 1990g, these skis are built with a weight-optimized wood core to balance durability with efficiency. While they are slightly heavier than pure racing skis, this added mass provides the stability and control necessary for navigating backcountry terrain.

Steel edges provide essential bite and control when you are skiing on hard-packed snow, crusty surfaces, or icy slopes. They give you the confidence to hold an edge during turns or traverses where a standard plastic-edged ski might slip.
