Single-ply means the reins are made from one solid, thick piece of leather rather than two layers stitched together. This creates a more flexible, lightweight feel that is less bulky in your hands while still maintaining the durability needed for daily riding.

Because they are crafted from harness leather infused with tallows, they arrive with a supple, broken-in feel. While they are sturdy, you won't need to spend weeks conditioning them to get a comfortable grip.

The water loops are the leather ends that attach to your bit. The tie laces allow you to secure the reins to the bit without needing hardware, making it easy to swap bits or replace the laces if they eventually wear out.

These reins are versatile enough for both. The weather-resistant harness leather holds up well to outdoor elements, and the 8-foot length provides plenty of slack for trail riding while remaining manageable for arena maneuvers.

To maintain the leather's integrity, wipe them down with a damp cloth after sweaty rides to remove salt buildup. Periodically apply a high-quality leather conditioner to keep the tallows replenished and prevent the leather from drying out.
